The collapsible plate heat exchanger consists of a frame and a set of heat transfer plates. The frame of the heat exchanger consists of movable and fixed plates, upper and lower guides and a rear stand. The plate pack is pressed against the fixed plate by a pressure plate with the help of tie rods.
The channels through which the media move are formed when the plate pack is pulled together. All heat exchanger plates in the package are identical in size, but are rotated 180 degrees relative to each other. This arrangement ensures alternating hot and cold channels.
During the heat exchange process, the working fluids move towards each other (countercurrently). The hot medium transfers heat through the plate wall. A double rubber seal is placed at the points where they can flow, making it impossible for the media involved in heat exchange to mix and flow. This principle of designing a collapsible plate heat exchanger allows for rapid modification. We can increase the number of plates, which will increase the heat exchanger’s capacity.
